Frequently asked questions
Here you will find answers to the most commonly asked questions about our products and company.
Can my fireplace suffer from burning pellets?
Fireplaces are not damaged by the use of a pellet burner.
Pellets are made from compressed sawdust, wood residue and wood chips, their burning temperature is comparable to that of regular dry wood logs. Tulipiippu burners are designed to burn calmly and therefore are also usable in old fireplaces.
Will pellets burn in a fireplace?
You cannot burn pellets without an adequate burner in your fireplace, because the combustion would lead to embers, which would make the correct burning of combustion gases impossible. The use of pellet baskets or cups is mainly decorative and for the sake of setting a mood.
A small quantity of pellets is simply not enough to provide adequate heating. Heating a fireplace with pellets requires an effective burning and enough combustible.
How do I use the Tulipiippu burner?
Please find the instructions manual found in the burner's packaging and follow these instructions. You can find further explanations and explanatory videos on our website.
How big a burner should I use?
The size and model of the burner you want to use depends on the mass of your fireplace and its air intake. For ovens or fireplaces over 2000 kg, use a Tulipiippu 50 burner, for slightly smaller ovens/fireplaces, the Tulipiippu 30 is adequate.
If you have a "light" fireplace, with a mass clearly under 1000kg, we suggest using the Tupiliippu 20 or 15 burner models.
Can I add pellets during the burning process?
You must not add pellets to the burner during combustion or ember phase. Let the burner cool down before its next use.
What temperature should I heat my fireplace up to?
Usually, a pleasing heat is achieved when the fireplace's exterior temperature is around 60-80°C. A middle-sized fireplace requires about 10kg of wood pellets to reach this temperature
How long will my burner last?
The first burners have been delivered to customers in 2001, and these burners are still in use today. The grate and inside cylinder are parts that suffer from wear and tear and have to be replaced when necessary. You can order these parts from your local Tulipiippu dealer.
Where can I buy pellets?
Smaller quantities of pellets can be found at well-furnished hardware stores or local dealerships. For 500 kg bags and above or for larger, loose orders, you should consider asking directly from pellet makers or distributors.
